HOW DO YOU WANT TO LEARN THE GUITAR?
There are so many ways to learn how to play these days:
- by ear
- by TAB
- by CDs and DVDs, and yes, even
- by music notation (a technique avoided by so many guitarists!).
Baz specialises in taking intermediate players from early teens to adults who have managed to achieve a moderate level of competence (playing songs and starting to solo) to their next level. This often involves learning the simple arithmetic behind the chords we play.
Beginners welcome, too! If you're just starting out, or restarting after a false start, Baz will work with you at your own pace whether you're after grades or just want to rock out.
You may want to learn guitar for graded exams - Baz calls this BookStyle. Or you may want to just play for fun - he calls it FreeStyle. Or any combination of the two - you decide.
One-to-one weekly tuition - 30 min - at your home or office is available for £20/session
Group lessons, school and after school guitar clubs, and other tutorial services are quoted individually. See the Contact page.
FREEBIE!
If you're a teacher or a student, you may have a favourite way of jotting down songs. The Publications page has Baz's MusicBlanks, and right now it's free. It's packed with blank TAB, Staff and Chord Diagrams (in PDF format). AVAILABLE NOW!

ROCK
Wanna Rock? Power chords, sustain, hammering the solo...arrggghh!
POP
Pop tunes require a softer touch, more complex chords and more syncopted rhythms, fills, vamping, comping and melodic solos.
R&B
Hitting the groove - it's all about where you place the accents, the triplets the major sevenths and the dominant ninth chords,
FOLK
Finger-pickin' good - let's use open strings, capos, and arpeggios on straight ahead major and minor chords with the occasional seventh chord just to spice things up a bit.
THEORY:
Scary word? It's just music arithmetic.
Can you recite the first 7 letters of the alphabet?
Can you count to 13?
You're already halfway to understanding harmony. Brave enough to learn about notation? This is harmony theory, especially for non-music-readers (or readers who can read from playing single-note instruments). Baz'll break it down for you in bite size chunks of guitar playing.
BASS
Are you a guitarist that wants to 'double' on bass? It more than doubles your chances for work if you are so inclined. Bass lessons are coming soon to BazGolinGuitar, too. It starts with roots and fifths and downbeats, and then it gets interesting and fun and most of all, in a band, powerful!
